2025 Misfit Poems Prize THIRD PLACE WINNER: "[FLASHCARDS FOR WHEN I START FORGETTING]" by Kristina Kim

Frontier Poetry is excited to congratulate Marianne Chan's pick for the THIRD PLACE winner of the 2025 Misfit Poems Prize: "[FLASHCARDS FOR WHEN I START FORGETTING]" by Kristina Kim.

Memory is patchwork. Flashes of emotional resonances that accent disparate details: a first kiss, the month of August, a plate of veggies. Kristina Kim captures her memory, or more so, her propensity for forgetting in the aptly misfit form of flashcards. She demonstrates the complicated beauty of authorship and truth one can exercise in distilling those flashes into a coherent emotionally honest whole.

Enjoy her poem below.
