Frontier Award for New Poets
July 23 — Sept 20, 2020
DETAILS: A panel of judges will make the selections for the Award for New Poets, all drawn from stunning debut poets who are trailblazing a new poetry community. The judges for 2020 are Paige Lewis, Camonghne Felix, and Jake Skeets. The winning poet will be awarded $3000, publication on Frontier Poetry. Second and third place will win $300 & $200 respectively, as well as publication. The top ten finalists will also be recognized.
Sept — Nov 15, 2020
DETAILS: The Frontier OPEN is our largest prize contest of the year, and in our pursuit to recognize today's best poets, we want to celebrate one outstanding piece of poetry, OPEN to all poets, with a $5000 award and publication. Ten finalists will also receive $100 each and all winners will earn publication with Frontier Poetry. The Frontier staff will select the winners and finalists.
March — May 2021
DETAILS: We love the intensity and simplicity of a good chapbook, and we're excited that this Chapbook Prize will offer the opportunity for the winning poet to publish and distribute their little book to thousands of readers for free. Open to all poets, the winner will receive publication of a digital chapbook by Frontier as well as a $2000 prize.
Frontier Industry Prize
May — July 2021
DETAILS: A panel of esteemed judges from the publication industry will choose three winning poets for total cash prizes of $3000—2020's judges are yet to be announced. The top poets will also receive publication on Frontier Poetry. Open to all poets.
New Voices Poetry
DETAILS: We also highly encourage you to submit your poetry for free to our New Voices, open year-round. We pay our emerging NV poets $50 per poem (up to $150), published every Friday. New Voices is the beating heart of Frontier, and we hope to read your work soon. Thank you so much for supporting the community of new and emerging poets. SUBMIT HERE.
New Voices Fellowship
March - October
DETAILS: We offer our fellowship to emerging poets from under-represented communities and backgrounds. These poets will be considered virtual visiting-writers and will receive: $500 prize and publication, with the opportunity to participate in online workshops and discussion groups. The New Voices Fellow will also have the opportunity to work with Frontier's editorial staff to produce content for the blog. SUBMIT HERE.
