The 2024 Portrait Prize Winners & Finalists!

It’s time to give a big congratulations to the winner of Frontier Poetry’s Portrait Prize, Lillian Emerick Valentine. Their riveting poem, “Exhibit in Reversal,” was selected by our Frontier‘s editors. As always, the Frontier Poetry reading and editorial team was very moved and impressed with all of the wonderful and powerful submissions that we had the privilege of reading. We are so grateful for the support of our submitters, readers, and friends.
Lillian Emerick Valentine has been selected for the first-place $3,500 prize by Frontier. Reed Turchi was selected as the second-place winner and Allison Norwood as the third-place winner. We look forward to publishing the winners throughout the month of June!

Lillian is a poet and farmer from Oregon. She holds an MFA from the University of Montana and her work has been published in Ecotone, The Journal, Salamander, and other literary journals. Her favorite bird is a kingfisher

Reed Turchi is a poet and musician from Swannanoa, North Carolina. His writing has appeared in The American Poetry Review, Narrative Magazine, and The Believer, among others, and his music has been featured by Rolling Stone, NPR, PBS, and more. He currently resides in Brooklyn.

Rebekah Sankey is a poet, vocalist, and educator; she holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her work has previously appeared in Barrelhouse Magazine. She lives north of Boston in Massachusetts.
