The Antioch University MFA in Creative Writing Program has partnered with us to offer a Fellowship opportunity to experience a 10-day residency in from either June 13 – 21 or December 5 – 14. The fellowship covers travel expenses, tuition and lodging, plus a $1000 cash prize. Submit here.

The Rumpus Original Poetry Submissions

For the first time ever, The Rumpus is accepting unsolicited original poetry submissions. Generally speaking, featured poets have a suite of approximately three semi-related poems, or one long poem, up on the site. Submit 4-8 poems, up to 12 pages, for publication here.

Lambda Literary 2019 Writer’s Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices

A fantastic opportunity for emerging LGBTQ+ writers, the Lambda Literary Writer’s Retreat is held August 4-11, 2019, on the campus of Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and the workshop in poetry is being led by poet Danez Smith. Submit here.

Sibling Rivalry Press 2019 Undocupoets Fellowship

The Sibling Rivalry Press Foundation will grant two $500 fellowships to undocumented or formally undocumented poets as an attempt to make submission fees more manageable. At least one fellowship will be awarded to an LGBTQ undocumented poet. Submit up to 10 pages of poetry here.

The Iowa Review 2019 Poetry Contest

Judged this year by poet Kiki Petrosino, this annual contest held by the Iowa Review offers a first-place prize of $1,500, a second-place prize of $750, and publication to finalists. Submit up to 10 pages of poetry here.

Academy of American Poets 2019 Ambroggio Prize

The Academy of American Poets is offering $1,000 and publication to a book-length poetry manuscript originally written in Spanish that also features an English translation. Judged by poet Rosa Alcalá, the original manuscript in Spanish must be between 48 and 100 pages. Submit here.

Columbia Journal 2019 Poetry Contest

Judged this year by poet Tommy Pico, Columbia Journal’s first-ever Spring Contest offers a cash prize of $250 and publication in Columbia Journal and online. Submit up to 5 poems here.

Open Mouth 2019 Poetry Retreat

Led by poets Franny Choi and Nate Marshall, the 2019 Open Mouth Poetry Retreat takes place from May 31 – June 2, and is held at the Mt. Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Room and board is offered to up to 26 poets, emerging or established. Apply here.

2019 Yeats Poetry Prize

Judged this year by poet Leslie McGrath, the Yeats Poetry Prize is an annual poetry contest held by the W.B. Yeats society of New York. Submit unpublished poems in English up to 60 lines for the chance to win $1000, a 2-year membership to the Yeats Society, and an appearance at an official award ceremony at the Union Square Barnes & Noble. 2019 Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference

The Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, founded in 1926, is being held this year from August 14 – 24, taking place at Middlebury College in Ripton, Vermont. Milkweed Editions 2019 Ballard Saphr Prize for Poetry

Judged by poet Khaled Mattawa, the Ballard Saphr Prize seeks to offer an outstanding poet residing in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, or Michigan. Prize winners will receive $10,000 and publication of a full-length manuscript at least forty-eight pages long. Submit here.
